Trevor
Ruling
TL;DR
Trevor breached Article (Art.) 3.14 of the Riot Games Esports Global Code of Conduct 2024 Edition (hereinafter referred to as the “Global Code of Conduct”), for match-fixing. Consequently, Trevor is suspended from any association or affiliation with a team in a Riot-sanctioned competition, for thirty (30) months, with immediate effect. The sanction will be applied retroactively, and will expire on October 18, 2027.
TIMELINE
The below is a summary of Riot Games’ findings. While Riot Games considered all the facts and evidence available at its disposal, the summary refers only to what Riot Games considers necessary to explain its reasoning.
On July 6, 2024, Trevor was approached to fix the outcome of an upcoming North American Challengers League (“NACL”) match.
On October 3, 2024, Riot Games received allegations that Trevor engaged in match-fixing during the 2024 NACL season. Riot partnered with Sportradar Integrity Services to conduct an investigation into the matter.
Riot Games began disciplinary proceedings against Trevor on April 18, 2025, in line with the Global Code of Conduct. Trevor was invited to submit a written statement, which he provided. This statement was taken into account during the review process.
RELEVANT RULES
Esports Professionals must abide by the Global Code of Conduct. In particular, the below provisions are relevant to the present case:
3.14 Match Fixing or Manipulation.
Esports Professionals may not match-fix or otherwise manipulate the outcome of any match or competition or request, encourage, or instruct others to manipulate it. “Manipulation” is defined as the unlawful or undue influencing or alteration (including failing to give best efforts), directly or indirectly, by an act or an omission, of the course, result, or any other aspect of a match (i.e. spot-fixing) or a competition, irrespective of whether the behavior is committed for financial gain, sporting advantage, or any other purpose. Teams may be sanctioned for the actions of their team owners, players, coaches, and any other employees or members of their organization. Any attempt to manipulate any competition, even if done unsuccessfully, will be deemed a violation of this rule.
4.1 Reporting Obligations.
Esports Professionals must report any violation of this Code of Conduct to Riot Games upon becoming aware of the violation. If the violation occurs during a Riot Esports Competition, Esports Professionals should report that violation to an Official (such as referees, competitive operations staff, or other designated individuals).
RULING
Riot Games considers match-fixing a severe violation of its Global Code of Conduct due to the significant threat it poses to the competitive integrity, trust, and long-term viability of the esports ecosystem. Each incident is reviewed individually, taking into account any mitigating and aggravating circumstances. The summary below outlines Riot Games’ most relevant findings only.
When evaluating this case, Riot Games noted Trevor’s claim that his intent was to deceive the match-fixer rather than deliberately underperform. However, this assertion was not a factor in determining the rule breach or sanction, as intent in this context is not relevant to establishing the violation. Under Article 3.14 of the Global Code of Conduct, a violation may occur regardless of intent; even unsuccessful or indirect attempts to influence a match can constitute a breach. The investigation established that Trevor entered into a financial agreement with the fixer to ensure his team lost the match 0-2, and that Trevor received a payment related to this arrangement.
Riot Games has found that Trevor breached Art. 3.14 of the Global Code of Conduct for match-fixing. Trevor’s cooperation with the investigation and his prompt admission of guilt were taken into consideration as mitigating factors.
In view of the above, Riot Games has imposed a thirty (30) month suspension on Trevor, prohibiting him from participating in all official Riot-sanctioned competitions. The sanction will expire on October 18, 2027.
The suspension is applied retroactively as an exceptional measure to address unusual delays in the administration of this case, caused by factors beyond Trevor’s control.
